Madrid, 2013-09-03 — /travelprnews.com/ — Iberia has redesigned its fare structure on domestic and European routes to make them more attractive and competitive, appealing to all market segments. There will be three different Tourist Class fares, offering three different price and service levels, so that customers can choose to book the cheapest fares or pay a little bit more, if they would like to have all the services included in the price.
The most radical innovation is the new “Basic” fare for the large market segment of economy-minded customers carrying only hand luggage. ”Basic” fares are lower than any offered currently by the airline on these routes.
The new “Classic” and “Flexible” fare categories group the fares that are currently available. The “Classic” fare brings no changes to the current fare: it includes one piece of luggage and a choice of seats, and customers will need to pay for changing their tickets. Those with “Flexible” fares are not penalised for changes, can refund of their tickets paying a fee, and now they are also given priority in boarding.
The new fares will go on sale on 7th September to nearly all destinations in Spain and Europe served by Iberia, Iberia Express, and Air Nostrum, both for direct flights and those involving connections within this area.
Iberia’s Commercial director Marco Sansavini said that “with this change in the fare model we are meeting the expectations and needs of our customers, who may now choose the price and service levels that suit them best. Thus we expect to enlarge our customer base, generate additional revenues, and be able to compete in a market that is evolving at an extraordinary pace, while meeting the objectives specified in our new commercial policy.”
The new commercial policy is a key component of the Iberia’s Transformation Plan, intended to improve both earnings and the customer experience. This new commercial plan includes different initiatives: the launch of new commercial initiatives and new online services such as MyBagTag and App Store on iberia.com. The arrival of Iberia’s new Airbus A330 and the retrofit of its long-haul fleet with all-new cabin interiors, seats, and individual entertainment systems.
