Holiday companies Thomson and First Choice expect to see their busiest single day of the year with 25,000 customers departing for foreign shores on Saturday August 3rd, 2013

2013-08-02— /travelprnews.com/ — Holiday companies, Thomson and First Choice will see 25,000 customers depart for foreign shores this Saturday (3rd August) on what’s set to be their busiest single day of the year. Over the last decade, the first Saturday in August has consistently been the busiest departure day for Thomson and First Choice and this year it’s set to continue with thousands of people departing from airports all over the UK.

With the Met Office forecasting showers and thunderstorms it’s no surprise that Brits are escaping to sunnier climes and avoiding the jellyfish reportedly lurking around British shores.

Saturday by numbers

  • 25,000 holidaymakers set to fly on Saturday
  • 127 flights departing from airports across the UK
  • 500 tonnes of hold luggage
  • 125 tonnes of hand luggage
  • 2,850 cups of coffee and 3,245 cups of tea consumed

Saturday’s top 5 most popular destinations

  • Majorca
  • Alicante
  • Fuerteventura
  • Mexico
  • Paphos

Mark Hall, Director of Product for Thomson and First Choice, commented: “We are gearing up to take over 25,000 people on holiday this Saturday on our busiest day of the year so far. With the weather looking unpredictable this weekend, it couldn’t be a better time for Brits to head to the guaranteed sunshine and relax with family and friends.”
