Helsinki Airport Unveils Nature-Inspired VIP and Meeting Facilities Designed for Comfort and Privacy

(IN SHORT) Finavia has introduced its newly designed VIP and meeting facilities at Helsinki Airport’s arrivals hall, giving travelers an early taste of Finland through interiors inspired by the country’s nature and seasons. The spaces, designed by SIO Sisse Collander, offer privacy, comfort, and flexibility for meetings and events, with all furnishings sourced from Finnish manufacturers. Meeting rooms are named after natural sky phenomena, and the interiors evoke elements such as lakes, rainfall, and snowy landscapes. The airport’s VIP President lounge, serving state guests, has also been refurbished to match this design philosophy, emphasizing authentic materials, adaptable spaces, and a calming yet luxurious atmosphere.

(NEWS) HELSINKI, 2025-Aug-11 — /Travel PR News/ — Finavia has unveiled its newly designed VIP and meeting facilities at Helsinki Airport, offering travelers an immersive introduction to Finland from the moment they arrive. Situated in the arrivals hall, the elegantly crafted spaces combine the privacy and exclusive services sought by VIP guests with modern, adaptable meeting areas suitable for anything from intimate one-on-one discussions to larger corporate events. The design concept draws heavily from Finnish nature, incorporating the beauty and character of the country’s four seasons.

Each meeting room takes its name from a natural sky phenomenon — Kaikuu (Echo), Sumu (Fog), Pilke (Twinkle), Pouta (Fair Weather), Kajo (Glimmer), and Loimu (Glow) — reflecting Finland’s deep connection to its environment. The interiors feature textures and tones inspired by lakes in summer, autumn rainfall, and snow-covered winter landscapes. All furniture and surface materials have been sourced from Finnish manufacturers, with upholstery fabrics from Annala’s weaving mill in Lapua, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern design sensibilities.

The facilities, designed by Interior Architect SIO Sisse Collander, cater to a range of purposes, enabling guests to work, meet, or unwind without leaving the airport. In line with this approach, Helsinki Airport’s prestigious VIP President lounge — serving visiting state dignitaries since 1997 — also underwent a recent redesign in the spring. The renewed space mirrors the same nature-inspired design philosophy, combining authentic materials, calming tones, enhanced acoustics, and adaptable layouts to create an atmosphere of subtle luxury.

By integrating Finnish design and culture into its airport infrastructure, Finavia is aiming to provide travelers with a memorable first impression of the country while also delivering functionality, comfort, and exclusivity in one location.
