Expanded Riu Jalisco Returns to Service Following Major Renovation in Riviera Nayarit

The reopening marks a significant update to one of RIU’s long-standing properties on Mexico’s Pacific coast, combining new facilities with an expanded accommodation offering.

The refurbishment included the construction of a new hotel wing, adding 120 rooms and bringing the total inventory to 820 fully renovated guestrooms. As part of the update, RIU introduced new room categories designed to accommodate larger groups, including family rooms with capacity for up to six guests, reflecting growing demand for multi-generational and family-focused travel.

Outdoor areas were also comprehensively redesigned, with the resort now featuring six swimming pools. Two pools are dedicated specifically to children and include water games and slides, while four additional pools cater to shared family use and adult relaxation. Several of the new pools are positioned along the seafront, including one with a swim-up bar, highlighting a shift toward more experiential leisure spaces within the resort environment.

A central element of the renovation is the expansion of dining and entertainment options. The newly added extension houses a Sports Bar alongside two concepts that RIU is progressively rolling out across its portfolio: an American Country restaurant and a Candy ice cream parlour. These additions complement the resort’s existing culinary lineup, which includes a buffet restaurant, multiple specialty dining venues, and casual food outlets. With the latest updates, the property now offers eight bars in total.

For younger guests, RIU has introduced a new splash pad play area and upgraded its RiuLand kids’ club, reinforcing the resort’s family-oriented positioning. Entertainment programming continues to include weekly RIU Party events, which are held every Friday and are designed to appeal to both adults and families staying at the property.

The reopening of Riu Jalisco also reflects RIU Hotels & Resorts’ broader investment strategy in Riviera Nayarit.
