Ethiopian Airlines Launches New Sharjah Route to Boost Middle East Connectivity

(IN SHORT) Ethiopian Airlines is set to expand its route network with a new passenger service to Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, effective June 1, 2025. The service, operating four times weekly using Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, provides a vital connection between Addis Ababa and Sharjah. With departures from Addis Ababa on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays at 10:05 p.m. (arrival at Sharjah at 03:25 a.m.) and from Sharjah on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 04:25 a.m. (arrival at Addis Ababa at 07:45 a.m.), the route enhances Ethiopian Airlines’ presence in the Middle East. Group CEO Mesfin Tasew emphasized that the new route will bolster both passenger and cargo operations, facilitate travel through the UAE’s vibrant cultural and business hubs, and strengthen regional connectivity. This expansion builds on nearly five decades of Ethiopian Airlines’ service in the Middle East and demonstrates its commitment to safety, reliability, and excellent customer service.

(PRESS RELEASE) ADDIS ABABA, 2025-Apr-8 — /Travel PR News/ — Ethiopian Airlines, recognized as one of the fastest-growing airline brands globally and Africa’s largest carrier, is thrilled to announce the launch of a new passenger flight service to Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, commencing on June 1, 2025. This new route, operated four times a week using state-of-the-art Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, will connect Addis Ababa with one of the UAE’s most dynamic and culturally rich cities.

The flight schedule is as follows:

ET 622 departs from Addis Ababa (ADD) every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday at 10:05 p.m., arriving in Sharjah (SHJ) at 03:25 a.m.

ET 623 departs from Sharjah (SHJ) every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 04:25 a.m., arriving in Addis Ababa (ADD) at 07:45 a.m.

Ethiopian Airlines currently operates over 100 weekly passenger and cargo flights to more than 17 destinations across the Middle East, and its presence in the region dates back to 1979 when it first launched flights to Dubai. The new Sharjah route further enhances Ethiopian’s network and connectivity within the UAE and the wider Middle East, promoting trade, tourism, and cultural exchange while reaffirming the airline’s commitment to safety, reliability, and outstanding customer service.
