Enterprise Holdings honors Fisher House Foundation at next week’s GBTA Convention in Orlando

ST. LOUIS,  2015-7-22 — /Travel PR News/ — In celebration of the growing travel industry, Enterprise Holdings is honoring Fisher House Foundation at next week’s Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) Convention in Orlando. Fisher House Foundation is a military nonprofit organization that provides free temporary lodging for military and veterans’ families at hospitals.

Enterprise Holdings – which owns and operates the National Car Rental and Enterprise Rent-A-Car brands – is donating $10,000 to Fisher House Foundation’s 25th anniversary “Home Away from Home” campaign to help ensure the Fisher House program will be around to serve military and veterans’ families for another 25 years.

“We wanted to show our commitment to the travel industry in a meaningful way at this year’s GBTA Convention,” said Brad Carr, vice president of corporate business for Enterprise Holdings. “As a result, we are extending our partnership with Fisher House Foundation and collaborating with them to ease the travel burden for military families visiting loved ones.”

Visitors at the convention can join Enterprise’s support for Fisher House Foundation by donating frequent flyer miles and hotel points to the nonprofit’s Hero Miles and Hotels for Heroes programs or by making a pledge here.

Since its inception, Fisher House Foundation has saved families of service members and veterans receiving treatment at military and Veterans Affairs (VA) medical centers an estimated $282 million in out-of-pocket costs for lodging and transportation.

“We are honored and privileged to have such a wonderful partnership with Enterprise,” said Ken Fisher, Chairman and CEO, Fisher House Foundation. “We will use this very generous donation to continue our work of serving military veterans and their families. We are truly blessed and see this gesture as a way of saying thank you to those who have given this country so much.”

Enterprise Holdings’ latest gift for the “Home Away from Home” campaign comes on the heels of a three-year commitment to Fisher House Foundation made earlier this year by its philanthropic arm, the Enterprise Holdings Foundation. The multi-year partnership is helping to fund the nonprofit’s Heroes’ Legacy Scholarship program as well as the construction of new homes on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers.

Enterprise Holdings is the largest car rental company in the world as measured by revenue, fleet and employees. Through a global network of more than 8,600 fully staffed locations, Enterprise Holdings’ extensive neighborhood and airport network provides the most comprehensive business rental solution in the marketplace.

Military heritage and support

Enterprise Holdings’ commitment to the military goes back nearly six decades. The company is named after the USS Enterprise, one of the aircraft carriers company founder Jack Taylor served on as a U.S. Navy pilot during World War II. It is widely recognized as one of the most decorated warships in U.S. military history.

Today, military veterans and reservists comprise nearly 10 percent of Enterprise’s total U.S. workforce. In fact, the company is one of more than 190 companies associated with the 100,000 Jobs Mission coalition, which brings together companies committed to hiring U.S. military veterans and military spouses. Since joining the coalition in 2012, Enterprise has added more than 6,000 military veterans to its staff.

Enterprise has also been recognized for its ongoing support of veterans and reservists. The company has been named a Top Veteran-Friendly Company by U.S. Veterans Magazine, “Best for Vets: Employers” by the Military Times publishing organization, Most Valuable Employer for Military by CivilianJobs.com and a Military Friendly Employer® by Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs.

In 2005, Enterprise received Five-Star recognition in the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Statement of Support Program, and was recognized with the Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award – the highest honor given by the U.S. government to employers that support their employees’ service in the National Guard and Reserve.

In 2012, Enterprise was honored for the second time as a Freedom Award Nominee by the ESGR, and was one of only two Missouri companies to receive the first Extraordinary Employer Support Award from the ESGR for sustained support of employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserve. In fact, Enterprise pays the salary differential for employees on active duty, so they continue to receive full pay during their service.
