2013-06-26 — /travelprnews.com/ — Edward Plaisted of Skytrax described the World Airline Awards event at Paris Air Show on Tuesday 18th June 2013 “as a massive success, attended by the top Management of airlines from across the world. We were delighted to welcome so many airline Presidents, Chairman, CEO’s and others who dedicated their time to attend the Awards ceremony. With more than 275 people at the awards, the atmosphere was buoyant and cheerful, and I also extend personal thanks to Richard Quest of CNN who came to make the global Award presentations in the ceremony. Richard is well-known and recognised across the world airline industry, and provided to be a great success for this event.”
Emirates scoops the Airline of the Year award as it is named the World’s Best Airline at the 2013 World Airline Awards ceremony, which took place today at the Paris Air Show. In addition to this World’s Best Airline title, Emirates collected the awards for Best Airline Middle East and the world’s Best Inflight Entertainment. The awards are voted on by travellers from more than 160 countries.
Mr Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline said: “These awards are widely regarded as the industry’s benchmark for Excellence. For us, the awards clearly reflect a vote of confidence from global travellers, who acknowledge and appreciate our continuous drive to deliver high- quality service. To be voted ‘World’s Best Airline’ by millions of discerning travellers really is something for our 60,000 strong workforce to be proud of.”
The winner of World’s Best Airline in 2011 and 2012 (Qatar Airways) is ranked No 2 in the global results this year. Qatar Airways collected three awards this year, for the World’s Best Business Class cabin, the World’s Best Business Class Lounge (for it’s Premium Terminal at Doha International Airport, and more recently opened lounge at Terminal 4, Heathrow Airport), and Qatar Airways was also named winner of the Best Airline Staff Service in the Middle East category.
Singapore Airlines retained it’s third place finish from the 2012 results, and was winner of the Award for the Best Airline in Asia. Other notable changes sees Garuda Indonesia enter the top 10 airlines for the first time, ranked in 8th position, Qantas regains it’s Top 10 status in 2013.

Cathay Pacific Airways was rewarded with the major service Award, with their cabin crew being voted the World’s Best Cabin Staff, and making an admirable climb up the cabin staff rankings in 2013 to achieve this No 1 position.
ANA All Nippon Airways improved their global ranking to No 4, whilst receiving two honours at the awards, being named winner of the World’s Best Airline for Airport Services and the new category Award this year for Best Aircraft Cabin Cleanliness – otherwise becoming known as the cleanest airline to travel with.
The World’s Best Leisure Airline title returned to the United Kingdom this year, with Thomson Airways being named winner of this major category.
