(PRESS RELEASE) Sydney, Australia, 2024-Dec-13 — /Travel PR News/ — Emirates and Collingwood Football Club have announced the extension of their longstanding partnership for an additional five years, ensuring that the airline will remain the Premier Partner of the club until 2029. This renewal reflects the shared commitment of both Emirates and Collingwood to foster community engagement through the power of sport.
Barry Brown, Emirates’ Divisional Vice President for Australasia, commented, “Our partnership with the Collingwood Football Club is a testament to our enduring commitment to Melbourne, a city with which we share a passion for sports. Our nearly 25-year collaboration aligns perfectly with the city’s love for excellence, and it’s a relationship that continues to strengthen with every season. Just as Collingwood has built a legacy of success, so too has Emirates across the globe.”
“Emirates’ long-standing dedication to supporting the local community, combined with Collingwood’s rich history of achievements, creates a powerful synergy between two brands known for their excellence. We are excited to continue this partnership and look forward to many more successful years ahead,” added Brown.
Craig Kelly, CEO of Collingwood Football Club, expressed his enthusiasm about the continued partnership: “We are thrilled to extend our relationship with Emirates for another five years. Since 1999, the bond between Collingwood and Emirates has grown stronger, making it one of the most enduring and successful partnerships in Australian sport. Reaching the 30-year milestone is a remarkable achievement, and we are grateful for Emirates’ unwavering support. We’re eager to see how this collaboration continues to evolve.”
As part of the partnership, Emirates’ logo will continue to feature prominently on the Collingwood Football Club guernseys and shorts. The airline will also maintain its year-round offer of special discounts on Economy and Business Class fares to Collingwood members, providing access to over 140 destinations across Emirates’ global network.
This partnership forms part of Emirates’ broader sponsorship portfolio, which includes prestigious events and teams such as the ICC Cricket World Cup, Rugby World Cup, the Dubai World Cup in horseracing, and several major football clubs, including Real Madrid CF, Arsenal F.C., AC Milan, and more. Additionally, Emirates is a key sponsor of all four Grand Slam tennis tournaments and recently renewed its partnership with Tennis Australia, ensuring its continued presence as the Official Airline of the Australian Open through to 2029.
Emirates has been serving Australia for over 28 years, connecting millions of passengers to and from the country through its hub in Dubai. With 77 weekly flights from key Australian cities, the airline continues to enhance its services, including a recent return to pre-pandemic capacity with the reinstatement of its second daily service to Perth and plans for a third direct service between Dubai and Melbourne starting in March 2025.
About Emirates’ sponsorships in Australia
With sponsorships spanning literature, film, art, culinary, music festivals and globally renowned orchestras, Emirates is dedicated to supporting the growth and reach of cultural activities in Australia and around the world and has made an investment of over $230 million into a formidable portfolio of sponsorships in Australia.
Beginning with the sponsorship of Collingwood Football Club in 1999, Emirates has gone on to sponsor various sports teams and events in Australia, from the Australian Open to Australian Rules Football, as well as becoming Partner of the Australian PGA Championship in Brisbane in 2022. Emirates is passionate about connecting communities and bringing the world together through sport.
Outside of sports, last year Emirates further solidified its commitment to supporting arts and culture in Australia by extending its 21-year partnership with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra until 2025. A cornerstone of its ongoing support to music and arts around the world, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra is the airline’s longest-running non-sports partnership.
Emirates also proudly sponsors the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, including its recent exhibition, taypani milaythina-tu: Return to Country. The partnership saw Emirates transport a precious Aboriginal object from Paris to Tasmania, 230 years after it was first removed. The artefact, a rikawa (kelp water carrier), is only one of two known to be in existence, and its new home at the museum will allow the Tasmanian Aboriginal community to reconnect with their cultural history.
