Edinburgh, Scotland, 2014-9-24 — /Travel PR News/ — The countdown is on for people to cast their votes for Edinburgh Castle or Stirling Castle to be named Best UK Heritage Attraction at the 2014 British Travel Awards (BTAs), with voting closing on 30th September.
The only Scottish attractions in the running for the prestigious award, they have been shortlisted alongside Arundel Castle in West Sussex, the Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland and the National Maritime Museum in Cornwall.
The largest consumer-voted awards programme in the UK, Edinburgh Castle has won the Best UK Heritage Attraction award for the past three years in a row.
The winner is voted for by the public and voting is now open until 30 September. Over a million votes were cast for last year’s awards, and the winners of the 2014 British Travel Awards will be announced at a ceremony on 26 November in London.
Stephen Duncan, Director of Commercial and Tourism at Historic Scotland said;
“I am delighted that both Stirling and Edinburgh Castles are in the running for this prestigious award. It’s been a fantastic summer for both sites, with Edinburgh Castle enjoying its busiest July on record and Stirling Castle playing host to a packed programme of events. With just days to go until voting closes, I hope that as many people as possible go online to vote for their favourite.”
