easyJet extends flexible policies under its ‘Protection Promise’ to 31 March 2022

  • easyJet will continue to offer protections under its ‘Protection Promise’ policy in 2022
  • ‘Freedom to Change’ policy will be extended to 31 March 2022, meaning customers can continue to change their flights fee free
  • ‘Travel Restriction Protection’ will remain in place until 31 December 2022 so should a trip be impacted by a lockdown travel ban or mandatory hotel quarantine customers can receive a refund for their flights, even if they are still operating
  • All easyJet holidays also continue to be covered by its Protection Promise until further notice

London, UK, 2021-Nov-30 — /Travel PR News/ — easyJet has today (NOVEMBER / 29 2021) announced it is extending its flexible policies under its ‘Protection Promise’, to continue providing customers with peace of mind when booking their flights.

During the pandemic easyJet introduced some of the most generous and flexible policies to help customers navigate the frequently changing restrictions, with no change fees for flight changes up to two hours before departure. While many other airlines have already re-introduced charges, easyJet is continuing to maintain this flexibility in 2022.

Now, until 31 March 2022, all easyJet customers can continue to make changes to their flights without a change fee up to two hours before departure, providing even more last-minute flexibility. There are no restrictions on dates or destination; customers with both new and existing bookings can transfer to any flights currently on sale up to the end of September 2022, and to any other destination on the airline’s network which spans 35 countries across Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. This means that if there are some travel restrictions impacting their destination country, customers can easily change their trip to another country on easyJet’s network.

To ensure customers remain protected from pandemic related issues, easyJet’s existing Travel Restriction Protection for flights will remain in place until 31 December 2022. This means that if a lockdown travel ban or a hotel quarantine is imposed, customers will be able to receive a refund, or a voucher, or will be able to transfer their flight free of charge, even if their flight continues to operate.

Sophie Dekkers, easyJet’s Chief Commercial Officer commented: 

“We know that flexibility continues to be crucial for our customers, so we’ve extended our Protection Promise to help customers book flights with confidence, safe in the knowledge they can make plans to travel without having to worry about incurring change fees or the expenses of mandatory restrictions, should their trip be impacted. And with more flights now available to destinations across our unrivalled European network, customers have more choice if they need to make changes to their trip.”

All easyJet holidays are also covered by its Protection Promise, an industry leading policy giving customers ultimate flexibility, protection and reassurance and letting them book with total confidence. The Promise offers a refund guarantee, freedom to change a booking, a reduced balance due date, a Best Price Guarantee, and deposit refunds.

Furthermore, following recent changes to travel restrictions, easyJet holidays customers due to travel up to 17 December have until midnight on Tuesday (30 November) to cancel their holiday online for credit so they can make an immediate rebooking to give customers greater flexibility about their travel plans given the uncertainty. This is in line with the three week review the government has announced, but easyJet holidays will keep a close eye on the situation and future departures. All easyJet holidays customers can make changes to their holiday up to 28 days before departure under the holiday firm’s industry leading and permanent change to its booking conditions known as its Protection Promise. Any customers with an easyJet holidays booking with a travel agent should contact their agent to discuss their options.

Customers can, of course, keep their holiday booking, this is just about giving further reassurance to anyone who wants to make a change to their plans.
