Ann Arbor Pilot Honored for Commitment to Pilot Assistance

WASHINGTON, D.C., 2018-Aug-06 — /Travel PR News/ — Today (August 02, 2018), at the 64th Air Safety Forum in Washington, D.C., the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA) recognized Delta Air Lines Capt. Mark Pinsky with a Presidential Citation for his dedication to helping his fellow airline pilots.

“Capt. Pinsky’s work as an ALPA volunteer has made a tremendous difference in many lives. His selflessness and dedication to providing support to his fellow pilots when they need it the most has helped advance the piloting profession across the industry,” said Capt. Tim Canoll, ALPA president.

Thorough tireless efforts, Capt. Pinsky was instrumental in the development of the Delta pilots’ groundbreaking Pilot Assistance Network, which helped inspire and served as part of the foundation for ALPA’s new Pilot Peer Support program. Also chairing his pilot group’s Aeromedical Committee, Capt. Pinsky has been a leader in advancing mental health issues with ALPA, the airlines, and the FAA.

“Capt. Pinsky’s dedication to helping his fellow pilots and to providing aeromedical support has provided tremendous resources to our members. Captain Pinsky was instrumental in initiating and developing the Pilot Assistance Network, a trained pilot-to-pilot support program that has made a difference in pilots’ lives across the industry,” said Capt. Bill Bartels, chairman of the Delta unit of ALPA.  “This Presidential Citation is long overdue, and it recognizes an ALPA volunteer who has dedicated his career to improving the profession. We all have benefited from Capt. Pinsky’s work, and owe him a debt of gratitude.”
