2012-11-03 — /travelprnews.com/ — Cathay Pacific Airways announced that it has resumed its New York service today and it plans to add capacity in the coming days to bring passengers whose travel plans have been disrupted to their destinations.  The airline will communicate details to its passengers once the arrangements are finalised.

“Though we have resumed our service to New York, we expect flights over the next few days may still be subject to disruption.  We are looking at adding capacity to and from New York but it is likely to be during the weekend as this will not be possible until the airport becomes fully functional.   During this recovery phase, customers travelling to and from New York can expect disruption at the airport including delays and should plan accordingly,” said a Cathay Pacific spokesperson.

“We are also helping our passengers with onward connections beyond New York to get to their final destinations via alternative gateways as we expect domestic flights to and from the city will be limited in the coming days,” the Cathay Pacific spokesperson added.

The airline reminded passengers that local transport within the city is still very limited, and it will take some time for the services at the airport in general to get back to normal.    Passengers booked to travel on flights from New York, should plan to arrive at the airport early.

Passengers without confirmed bookings are advised not to go to the airport.  Cathay Pacific will assist with alternative arrangements for affected passengers through our call centres and “Manage My Booking” at www.cathaypacific.com.

The airline will waive all rebooking, rerouting, cancellation and refund charges for Cathay Pacific tickets issued worldwide on or before 28 October 2012 for travel on Cathay Pacific with confirmed bookings involving New York between 29 October and 2 November 2012. Details are available at www.cathaypacific.com.

Passengers are advised to check the latest flight information on the airline’s website www.cathaypacific.com before departing for the airport.  They are also advised to enter their contact details in the Manage My Booking function on the website to ensure they receive the latest flight updates via SMS or email.
