CARIBBEAN AIRLINES FLIGHT BW 300 RETURNS TO PIARCO

Port-of-Spain, 2012-10-26 — /travelprnews.com/ — Caribbean Airlines confirms that flight BW300, bound for Caracas with four crew and forty-four passengers, returned to Piarco, when a section of exterior paneling was observed to have become detached on liftoff at 6.49am today October 26th.

The aircraft, an ATR72, landed at 7.15am without incident. The passengers and crew deplaned and were transported to the terminal where passengers were offered refreshments as they awaited the resumption of their flight.

Upon authorization from the TTCAA, Caribbean Airlines removed the aircraft from its position on the runway where the captain, in keeping with safety protocols, had switched off the engines on landing.

The aircraft is at the Caribbean Airlines facility where it has undergone an initial inspection as part of an investigation into the event. No other damage to the aircraft has been noted.

All forty-four passengers of the original flight boarded a replacement aircraft and Flight BW300 departed at 10.30am for Caracas.
