Budapest Airport to host Runway Run on 3 September 2016

Budapest, Hungary, 2016-Mar-22 — /Travel PR News/ — This year Budapest Airport is to host the highly successful airport charity race for runners, unique in Europe, on Saturday, 3 September. Runway Run will welcome about 1000 runners again at Ferenc Liszt International Airport on runway 1, to beclosed for traffic for the duration of the event. Entry fees will be collected by Budapest Airport on behalf of the Hungarian SUHANJ! foundation and the British Anthony Nolan foundation.

Hundreds (thousands!) of running shoes will be gripping the concrete at Ferihegy airport again, if only for a few hours, on 3 September 2016, at the fourth charity race called Runway Run organized by Budapest Airport. The event, unique in Europe, will be attended by participants from all over the world. Approximately 1000 runners working in aviation and commerce will run 5 or 10 kilometers on the runway, in a real airport environment. Traditional participants include representatives of embassies and foreign chambers of commerce in Budapest as well as the airport authorities, such as the Police, Customs, the ARFF service, the Counter-Terrorism Center, and the CAA.

The chief sponsor of Runway Run is again European aircraft manufacturer Airbus, and beneficiaries of the event will be the Hungarian SUHANJ! Foundation supporting sports activities of handicapped children and their families, and the British Anthony Nolan Foundation supporting leukemia patients by searching for bone-marrow donors.
