Bahrain Airport Company announces a permanent overflow car park for passengers

Muharraq, Bahrain, 2018-Jan-02 — /Travel PR News/ — Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), the operator and managing body of Bahrain International Airport (BIA), announced that the airport now offers a permanent state-of-the-art overflow car park for passengers. The car park’s tariff is BD1 per day, and it includes a complementary shuttle service to transfer passengers to and from the terminal building every 30 minutes. The car park also has air-conditioned passenger waiting areas, in addition to other support facilities.

The announcement, part of ongoing efforts to elevate passenger experience at the airport to world class levels, was made by BAC Chief Commercial Officer, Ayman Zainal during an inspection visit to the car park.

“BIA passengers can now take advantage of several modern facilities at the car park at the most affordable rates in the region,” he said. “Our aim is to ensure that the airport accommodates the expected surge in passenger flow during upcoming peak periods, and that the overall experience is suitable to today’s travelers. This was a crucial element in our plan and we are certain that it will help ease the journeys of passengers passing through our airport.”

The car park consists of 4,000 parking stalls dedicated for passengers. It is one of the many components of the $1.1 billion Airport Modernisation Programme (AMP) currently underway at BIA. Once completed, the AMP will turn the airport into a key facilitator of growth for the national economy, in line with the objectives of Economic Vision 2030. All aspects of the airport’s operations will be improved, resulting in a state-of-the-art airport four times its current size that can cater to approximately 14 million passengers each year.

Opened earlier this year, the revamped overflow car park is located north of the runway within the airport’s premises on Galali Road. Passengers can reach the car park either through the Dry Dock Highway or Arad Highway. Passengers are requested to park their vehicles in the allocated BIA car parks and avoid leaving their cars on the side of the roads. BAC advises passengers to arrive at the airport at least 3 hours prior to their departure time to avoid any potential delay.
