Austrian Airlines deploys fifth Embraer for its initial flight from Vienna to Stuttgart

• Austrian Airlines Embraer fleet: already more than 1,700 flights completed with about 2,100 flying hours
• Almost new Embraer jets are replacing Fokker aircraft: greater traveling comfort for passengers

Vienna, Austria, 2016-May-18 — /Travel PR News/ — This morning yet another Embraer jet in the Austrian Airlines fleet with the registration number OE-LWI took off for its initial flight OS177 from Vienna to Stuttgart. It is the fifth Embraer jet out of a total of 17 aircraft of this type which Austrian Airlines will integrate into its fleet by the end of 2017. In the process, Austrian Airlines will gradually replace the 21 Fokker aircraft it operates.

Since the first Embraer was put into operation in January of this year, the new Embraer fleet of Austrian Airlines has completed more than 1,700 flights with a total of around 2,100 flying hours. On average, one Embraer jet is deployed for five to six flights each day, and is in the air for about seven hours.

The Embraer jets consume about 18 percent less fuel per aircraft seat than the Fokker, and are thus much more environmentally compatible. The fleet renewal program also enhances travel comfort: The cabin equipped with a two-by-two-seating is particularly spacious thanks to its ergonomic design, thus offering passengers a feeling of enjoying more space. The Embraer jets have an average age of four years, providing room for 120 passengers. The list price of an Embraer jet is about USD 52 million.
