SEATTLE, 2015-7-31 — /Travel PR News/ — The Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA; www.adventuretravel.biz) has announced the program for AdventureWeek Rebound Nepal, a specialized familiarization (FAM) trip that highlights the fact that Nepal is ready to welcome travelers again after the April 2015 earthquake and showcases the adventure opportunities along the Great Himalaya Trails. The trip will take place October 24 – November 1, 2015.
After the devastating April earthquake, the ATTA committed to a tourism rebuilding program for Nepal, using their expertise in demonstrating the adventure potential of destinations. Unlike other AdventureWeeks, which are supported solely by governmental organizations and local operators within the destination, AdventureWeek Rebound Nepal is designed to ensure that no costs are incurred by local operators in Nepal. The program is made possible by key funding partner, the Great Himalaya Trails, as well as support from the Nepal Tourism Board, Tourism Cares, DeLorme and ExOfficio.
“AdventureWeek has been a success in business building for the destinations who’ve brought us in to deliver it and we are so pleased to be able to give this to Nepal as an attempt to help the tourism industry recover more quickly,” said ATTA President Shannon Stowell. “And we have found wonderful partners to help make the process happen in Great Himalaya Trails, Tourism Cares and the Nepal Tourism Board.”
Members of the media who can provide maximum exposure for Nepal’s adventure tourism offerings in order to facilitate a quick tourism industry recovery are invited to apply, as well as tour operators who are determined to significantly increase or repair Nepal’s adventure travel business both short-term and long-term.The program will feature two itineraries: one showcasing classic trekking and the other showcasing the variety of adventure opportunities available in Nepal. This AdventureWeek will feature a one-day AdventureEDU course for local operators on Safety and Risk Management. The program will also offer a chance for media and tour operators to connect with one another and Nepali operators during an AdventureConnect networking event in Kathmandu. The goal will be to discuss story ideas, developments and news around Nepal’s readiness for travelers to return post-earthquake.
