Angus Glasby appointed Head of Safety at First Bus

Aberdeen, Scotland, 2015-9-15 — /Travel PR News/ — First Bus has announced the appointment of Angus Glasby as the company’s new Head of Safety.

Angus, who is based in Doncaster, joins from supermarket chain Morrisons and started with First Bus on 1st September. He is responsible for driving improvements in safety performance across First Bus’ operations.

He said: “I’m very excited to have joined a company that has safety engrained within its culture. I’m already relishing the challenge and have joined a very committed and talented team. I’m determined to build upon the fantastic achievements and ensure that our relentless approach to safety continues.”

Angus will report to Regional Managing Director for First Bus’ operations in Wales and South of England, Neil Barker, who said: “I’m delighted to welcome Angus to the team. He brings with him an impressive track record and will being fresh perspective on how we can continue to improve our safety performance.”

Angus replaces First Bus previous Head of Safety, Sarah Claypole, who has joined another FirstGroup company, Tram Operations Ltd in Croydon.

Angus began his career in 1985 as a Student Environmental Health Officer with Wakefield Metropolitan District Council and spent 14 years as an enforcement officer dealing with all aspects of environmental health. In 1999 Angus moved to Morrisons and in some 15 years enjoyed a number of safety related positions. He became Group Health & Safety Manager in 2004 heading up health and safety across Morrisons’ three main divisions, Retail, Logistics and Manufacturing.
