All Nippon Airways Selects NAOKI TAKIZAWA DESIGN, SETCHU and adidas to Redefine Uniforms for Flight, Hospitality and Support Staff

(IN SHORT) All Nippon Airways has selected Naoki Takizawa (NAOKI TAKIZAWA DESIGN), Satoshi Kuwata (SETCHU), and adidas Japan to redesign uniforms across three core staff categories—Flight Operations, Hospitality, and Functional Departments—in time for the airline’s 75th anniversary in December 2027. The new apparel emphasizes ergonomic comfort, bespoke tailoring, and sports-grade performance, aiming to enhance employee morale and customer experience. Designed to launch in the latter half of fiscal 2027, these uniforms underscore ANA’s dedication to safety, innovation, and global brand elevation.

(PRESS RELEASE) TOKYO, 2025-Jul-3 — /Travel PR News/ — All Nippon Airways (ANA), in celebration of its upcoming 75th anniversary in December 2027, has engaged two acclaimed fashion designers and one global sportswear innovator to craft its next-generation uniforms for Flight Operations, Hospitality, and Functional Department teams. These fresh ensembles—each tailored to the distinct needs of cabin crew, pilots, ground staff, engineers, cargo handlers, and catering crews—will debut in the second half of fiscal 2027.

ANA aims for these uniforms to embody its longstanding commitment to safety in the skies, while simultaneously ushering in new dimensions of customer delight. By marrying ergonomic design with refined aesthetics, the carrier seeks to offer employees apparel that bolsters morale, enhances on-the-job performance, and leaves a lasting positive impression on travelers worldwide.

The Flight Operations line is entrusted to Naoki Takizawa of NAOKI TAKIZAWA DESIGN, whose background includes creative direction at ISSEY MIYAKE and costume work for the Japanese imperial family. Takizawa’s approach treats garments as “ergonomically based product design,” ensuring pilots enjoy maximum comfort and functionality during long-haul flights.

For the Hospitality category—covering cabin attendants and front-line ground personnel—ANA has partnered with Satoshi Kuwata of SETCHU, winner of the 2023 LVMH Prize. Kuwata’s expertise in bespoke tailoring promises uniforms that balance traditional Japanese beauty with modern practicality, enabling staff to welcome passengers with confidence and style.

The Functional Departments’ wardrobe will be overseen by adidas Japan. Leveraging over 75 years of sports-performance innovation, adidas will engineer durable, high-functionality garments optimized for mechanics, baggage handlers, and catering teams—outfitting them with the same performance-driven rigor applied to elite athletes.

“By collaborating with these visionary partners, we’re investing in design excellence that will resonate with customers and colleagues alike,” said Shinichi Inoue, CEO of All Nippon Airways. “Our goal is uniforms that are not only fit for purpose but also elevate the ANA brand globally.”

Uniform rollout begins in H2 FY2027. For full details and design teasers, visit the ANA website.
