airberlin guests on short and medium-haul flights to receive the new chocolate heart by Lindt from 8 April

New cooperation with Lindt

BERLIN, 2015-4-9 — /Travel PR News/ — Legend has it that they have saved quite a few relationships – the chocolate hearts from airberlin: “Quite often they are used as last-minute presents on special occasions such as Valentine’s Day or Mother’s Day, or they sweeten up late working hours. Our frequent flyers are so accustomed to our sweet salutation that they just don’t want to do without”, says flight attendant Selina Treuholz with a coy wink. All airberlin guests on short and medium-haul flights receive a chocolate heart as a small gesture of gratitude when leaving the aircraft. Treuholz has worked for airberlin since 2007 and together with the other crews is responsible for handing out roughly 13 million chocolate hearts per year.

In future, the popular little keepsakes will be made of finest Lindt chocolate. The red hearts will continue to weigh roughly 20 grams. Each chocolate heart is made of Alpine milk chocolate and has a cocoa content of at least 30 percent.

“The chocolate heart is an integral element in our brand. Our chocolate heart expresses the heartfelt warmth that we feel and is a way for each guest leaving our aircraft to take a little portion of that home with them. We are thrilled to have recruited such a reputable partner as Lindt for what is likely the most popular keepsake in air travel”, says André Rahn, Senior Vice President Marketing at airberlin.

It is quite common for guests to approach us, worried that the airline may have got rid of the chocolate hearts. But there is no need for concern. The heart is likeable, emotional, and will remain the core element of our marketing communication. However, local import regulations at some destinations prevent us from handing out the chocolate hearts.

airberlin guests on short and medium-haul flights will receive the new chocolate heart by Lindt from 8 April. All Business Class guests on long-haul flights will receive the chocolate heart during the landing approach.

Besides the chocolate heart from the house of Lindt, the board shop will also stock chocolate specialities by this richly traditional company. They include Lindt Hello Strawberry Cheesecake Sticks, Lindor Milk Chocolate Sticks, Lindor Truffles, bars of chocolate and Lindt Hello Heart Tins. In future, guests in Business Class will be invited to select and enjoy a Lindt product with their tea or coffee.
