Berlin, Germany, 2014-6-7 — /Travel PR News/ — In May 2014, airberlin welcomed a total of 2,971,840 passengers on board, i.e. an increase of +0.5 percent over the corresponding month of the previous year. Overall, passengers traveled almost 4.4 billion kilometers within airberlin’s global flight route network, thereby reaching the high capacity utilization rate of 79.5 percent. The available seat kilometers increased by 2.5 percent to 5.5 billion (previous year: 5.4 billion).
As was the case in the preceding months, airberlin further increased its capacity in yearly comparison. With more year-round connections, especially on tourist routes and long-haul flights, the airline company is reducing previously existing seasonal fluctuations between the winter and summer flight schedules, thus establishing its available flights on the market in the long term.
During the first five months of 2014, the number of passengers transported reached a total of 11,382,906 and exceeded that of the previous year (+0.2 percent), whereas capacity utilization reached 81.7 percent. The available seat kilometers amounted to 21.889 billion kilometers, the revenue passenger kilometers amounted to 17.877 billion kilometers.
