BUDAPEST, Hungary, 2019-Aug-06 — /Travel PR News/ — Air Serbia launched a direct flight between Budapest and Nis. Passengers can fly with the Serbian national carrier between the two cities twice a week, all through the year.
The first direct flight between Budapest and Nis (in the South-East of Serbia) took off today. The airline is to operate the flight twice a week, on Thursday and Sunday, departing from Budapest late in the evening, to arrive, after 1 hour and 10 minutes, in Nis, at the airport named after the emperor Constantine the Great.
The airline uses an Airbus A319 aircraft for this flight, with 144 seats, offering snacks and water on board.
The launch of the Budapest-Nis flight is part of the PSO tender won by Air Serbia, in the framework of which the state of Serbia supports the launching of twelve new flights from Nis. In addition to Budapest, the new destinations include several German cities as well as Bologna, Rome, Salzburg, and Tivat.
The Serbian city of Nis is an important center of industry and a road transport hub (one of the main stops between Belgrade and Sofia, and it is also possible to reach Istanbul and Asia Minor from here), but it also has a rich history. This is where Constantine the Great who announced the freedom of religion for Christians was born. The city of Medijana – with a heritage of ancient Rome – is only one and a half kilometers away. And for Hungarian visitors, the fortress built under Turkish rule where János Hunyadi defeated the Ottoman army in 1443 is a must-see.
“When a new flight is launched, it is not only intended that the number of destinations which can be reached from Budapest should increase, but we would also like to offer a new quality route to our passengers,” said Kam Jandu, chief commercial officer of Budapest Airport. He added, “Nis as a jewel of the Balkans is an excellent destination, and we are delighted to link Budapest with another neighboring country now, contributing to the development of our ties with the countries around us in terms of the economy, education, and tourism.”
The year-round Budapest-Nis flight is offered as of August, in both the summer and winter schedule periods.
