Acqualina Resort & Spa launches new curriculum for the marquee AcquaMarine program for children ages 5-12

Revamped Curriculum Incorporates Arts and Crafts, Technology and Dynamic Marine Biology Learning for the Resort’s Junior Guests

SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FL, 2016-Feb-11 — /Travel PR News/ —  Launching February 15, 2016, Acqualina Resort & Spa , a Miami Family resort, will roll out an exciting new curriculum for the marquee AcquaMarine program, offered for children ages 5-12, in tandem with Miami Fitness Connection. The immersive AcquaMarine program is designed and inspired by Acqualina’s beautiful oceanfront setting and is the perfect opportunity for young guests to take in learning experiences while on vacation with their families. Children who sign up for the Aquamarine program will experience customized, hands-on activities that utilize computers and iPad app virtual learning, arts and crafts projects, and outdoor teambuilding games by the pool and beach, all intended to teach kids about a variety of marine biology themes.

The seven new or enhanced themes launched under the program include: Arctic Fish and Friends, the Colorful World of Reefs, Gentle Giants, Pinniped Pals, Predators of the Sea, Save the Sea, and Sea Turtles.

• Arctic Fish & Friends: This program theme incorporates hands-on games to teach children about arctic animals, such as leopard seal tag, polar explorer relays, and “penguin dives,” as well as arts & crafts programs such as the Northern Lights Landscape, Puffy Polar Bear Art, Stuff-a-Penguin, and Magic Color Scratch Penguin.

• Colorful World of Coral Reefs: This theme utilizes hands-on games and crafts for children to gain the understanding and structure of coral animals, reef patterns, eels, rainbow fish, coral polyp colonies, and colorful, neon sea anemones. Arts & crafts programs offered include 3D Fishbowl Craft Kits, Beach Treasure Art and Jumbo Sea Shell decorating.

• Gentle Giants: Campers learn about the world of whales and their unique patterns through games like Coldbuster Blubber, Sizing Up a Whale, Whale Feeding Frenzy, and Whale Talk. Arts & crafts projects include Plaster Whale Box, Whale Bank, and Stain a Frame Whale.

• Pinniped Pals: This theme educates kids about the different species of pinnipeds, including learning about the habits of seals, sea lions and walruses through activities like Design a Sea Lion and Habitat Sweet Habitat. Arts & craft projects include Sock Seal Pups, Paper Plate Sea Lions, Recycled Water Bottle Walrus Crafts, and Soap Stone Seals.

• Predators of the Sea: Kids are immersed in the world of sharks through games like Hide & Seek Shark Attack, Sniff o Rama, and Shark Feeding Frenzy Role Play. Arts & crafts projects include Shark Tooth Necklaces, Shark Banks, Flexible Wooden Sharks, and Sharks in a Bottle.

• Save the Sea: Campers learn the importance of protecting the environment and oceans through eco-friendly activities like Ocean Clean Up, Pollutants from Land to Sea, and arts & crafts projects like Recycled Bottle Turtle, Eco Friendly Fish and Fruit Cup Jelly Fish.

• Sea Turtles: The most popular theme of the AcquaMarine program, kids learn about saving the turtle species and nesting behaviors through a variety of games, races and tags, and arts & crafts programs such as Balloon Turtle, Stained Foil Turtle, Canvas Turtle Painting and Ceramic Turtle Planter. If kids are lucky, they can even watch sea turtle nesting and migration right on Acqualina’s shore!
These programs, offered for children ages 5 through 12, will run every day for a full or half day option from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays for a full or half day option from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A special, ala carte gourmet kid’s menu is available; lunch is served at noon.

Alongside these new initiatives, the resort will debut a newly designed, ultra-modern Children’s Center, which is the home base for all of the programs not taught outside on the beach. The center is decorated to capture the underwater experience, weaving together colors and textures of exotic coral reefs and marine life. The new elements brought into the space include a “liquid effect,” turquoise-colored stretch ceiling and film from Australia, which was installed to give children the illusion of being underwater. A new mural installation is brushed with a variety of brightly colored fish and Caribbean reefs. These two visually stimulating elements provide a fun and educational atmosphere for children, while they create marine bio-themed crafts, play hands-on games, and learn new technology through iPad apps and computers. Also available for parents of campers in the Acquamarine program is “WatchMeGrow,” a Streaming Video System that provides parents (and approved family members) the opportunity to login from any PC with an Internet connection the ability to view their children and share in their day during their vacation.
