AAAE announces the addition of Senate Appropriations Committee staff veteran Stephanie Gupta to its Federal Affairs Department

Alexandria, VA, 2017-Jan-06 — /Travel PR News/ — The American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) today announced the addition of highly respected Senate and House appropriations committee staff veteran Stephanie Gupta to the Association’s Federal Affairs Department, where she will serve as Senior Vice President, Security and Facilitation.

“Stephanie Gupta is someone I have admired on Capitol Hill for more than two decades, and we are extremely fortunate to have her joining AAAE’s advocacy team at such a critical time for airports,” AAAE President and CEO Todd Hauptli said. “Her knowledge of public policy issues facing the transportation industry, her unparalleled understanding of the inner-workings of both the House and the Senate and her incredible work ethic make this move a huge win for the airport community. We are grateful for her public service and thrilled that she has agreed to put her considerable talent and expertise to work on behalf of the nation’s airports. We welcome her to the AAAE team.”

“While it’s been a tremendous honor and privilege to serve in both the House and Senate working with exceptional leaders who are genuinely focused on enhancing the security of the nation and promoting the efficiency of our transportation systems, I am looking forward to starting a new chapter at AAAE,” Gupta said. “I consider the AAAE team the gold standard in Washington and I’m excited to get the chance to work with airport leaders to tackle the significant challenges and opportunities that exist with security and the facilitation of international passengers through gateway airports.”

Gupta joins AAAE from the Senate Appropriations Committee, where she most recently served as minority clerk for the subcommittee responsible for funding the Department of Homeland Security and its component agencies, including the Transportation Security Administration and U.S. Customs and Border Protection. During her career, Stephanie has served as the top professional staff member or clerk for the Senate DHS funding subcommittee for both the minority and majority sides. Prior to her time in the Senate, she served as the lead staffer for both the minority and majority on the DHS funding subcommittee in the House of Representatives.

In addition to her expertise on security and facilitation issues, Stephanie has been a member of the professional staff of the subcommittee responsible for funding the Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration. Stephanie also worked for the U.S. Government Accountability Office as a Senior Aviation Analyst.

Gupta started at AAAE in late December.
