2012-08-13 — /travelprnews.com/ — Traffic Figures: 2,473,182 passengers were handled at Zurich Airport during July 2012, a gain of 0.9% versus July 2011. The year to date passenger growth stands at +2.7%.
O&D or local passengers (originating or departing from Zurich) increased by 0.5% to 1,671,807 compared to previous July (YTD +2.1%). Transfer passengers increased by 1.6% to 793,080 in July (YTD +3.9%). The transfer rate which was at 31.9% last July is currently at 32.1% (YTD 34.3%).
The current low cost carrier market share is at 10.7% (YTD 10.6%), showing a passenger decrease of 6.3% (YTD -1.4%) versus previous year.
Air traffic movements (ATM’s) decreased by 1.9% to 24,470 in July versus previous year (YTD -2.9%). The decrease divides into a decrease of 1.6% for airlines (YTD -1.7%) and a decrease of 3.7% for general aviation (YTD -9.1%).
The average passenger per movement figure (airline passengers only) currently is at 116.4 (113.4 previous year) or 105.3 YTD (100.7 previous year). The average seat load factor stayed virtually unchanged at 79.7% (YTD 73.7%).
Commercial Activities
Total turnover (net sales to consumers) during July was CHF 48.8m (+6.3% versus previous year). Turnover per departing passenger in July was CHF 39.5, which is 5.4 percent higher than last year. Year to date July, total turnover saw an increase of 6.7% to CHF 295.0m and turnover per departing passenger increased by 3.9 percent to CHF 41.3.
