2012-11-14 — /travelprnews.com/ — Traffic Figures: 2,254,582 passengers were handled at Zurich Airport during October 2012, a loss of 1.1% versus October 2011. The year to date passenger growth stands at +2.4%.
O&D or local passengers (originating or departing from Zurich) decreased by 1.6% to 1,560,107 compared to previous October (YTD +1.8%). Transfer passengers decreased by 0.2% to 686,674 in October (YTD +3.4%). The transfer rate which was at 30.2% last October is currently at 30.5% (YTD 33.8%).
The current low cost carrier market share is at 10.5% (YTD 10.7%), showing a passenger decrease of 9.4% (YTD -3.0%) versus previous year.
Air traffic movements (ATM’s) decreased by 3.9% to 23,399 in October versus previous year (YTD -3.0%). The decrease divides into a decrease of 3.7% for airlines (YTD -2.0%) and a decrease of 5.1% for general aviation (YTD -9.0%).
The average passenger per movement figure (airline passengers only) currently is at 110.4 (107.4 previous year) or 107.5 YTD (102.9 previous year). The average seat load factor saw an increase of 0.9 percentage points to 76.8% (YTD 75.0%).
Commercial Activities
Total turnover (net sales to consumers) during October was CHF 45.1m (+5.2% versus previous year). Turnover per departing passenger in October was CHF 40.0, which is 6.4% higher than last year. Year to date October, total turnover saw an increase of 8.0% to CHF 429.6m and turnover per departing passenger increased by 5.5% to CHF 40.5.
