YYC welcomes three new taxi services

Calgary, AB., 2021-Jul-30 — /Travel PR News/ — The Calgary Airport Authority signed an 18-month contract with Associated Cab, Calgary City Cab, Calgary United Cab for on-demand taxi services at YYC Calgary International Airport (YYC). The Authority thoroughly reviewed multiple Requests for Proposal submissions and awarded the taxi contracts to three service providers, effective July 27, 2021. If guests have preferences to arrange for a taxi service outside of our new partners, they can make arrangements with those companies directly.

“It’s important we offer our guests choice in as many areas of service as possible and taxis are no exception,” said Rob Palmer, Vice President Commercial, Strategy & Chief Financial Officer. “With this change we’re now offering more choice for our guests while also giving growth opportunities for both Calgary Cit Cab and Calgary United taxis. We also proudly welcome Associated Cabs under the new arrangement, who have been long time partners of the airport.”

Associated Cab, Calgary United Cab and Calgary City Cab are committed to maintaining a high level of customer service. Their fleets offer a mix of hybrid, non-hybrid and accessible vehicles with enhanced sanitization and plexiglass barriers between driver and guest. All taxis are also equipped with contactless payment options.

To help offset the financial impacts of COVID-19 and to create a level playing field among similar transportation options, we’re increasing our outbound taxi fee from $4.29 to $4.50 + tax. This new fee aligns with the fees currently paid by outbound rideshare customers. Guests will see this on signage located on the Arrivals level and on their taxi meter upon entry into the vehicle. This fee increase is the first in over three years and represents an increase of less than 5 per cent. Although the fare will increase slightly, it does not cover the additional investments already made into taxi dispatch and Arrivals level wayfinding and reorganization.
