(PRESS RELEASE) ROISSY, France, 2026-Apr-9 — /Travel PR News/ — Worldwide Flight Services (WFS), part of SATS Ltd, has renewed its long-standing partnership with Air Europa Cargo through a new five-year agreement covering cargo handling operations in Madrid and Barcelona.

The collaboration, which first began in Madrid in 2018 and later expanded to Barcelona in 2021, will continue to support Air Europa Cargo’s operations across both key Spanish hubs. The renewed agreement reinforces the airline’s ability to strengthen its cargo services and maintain a competitive position in both European and long-haul markets.

In Madrid, WFS manages cargo handling for up to 350 weekly Air Europa flights connecting domestic routes and major European destinations, as well as daily services to the United States and South America. In Barcelona, the partnership includes handling more than 25 weekly flights. These operations are supported by a fleet that includes Boeing 737 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

Jordi Piqué, General Manager of Air Europa Cargo, highlighted that the continued collaboration with WFS provides a specialised partner aligned with the airline’s strategic vision. He noted that the partnership supports ongoing improvements in efficiency, service quality, safety, and the adoption of advanced technologies.

The agreement is expected to further enhance cargo services across Air Europa’s network, which spans Europe and key destinations in the Americas, while maintaining a focus on operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

Humberto Castro, Managing Director of WFS in Spain and Italy, emphasised the company’s commitment to supporting the airline’s continued growth. He pointed to ongoing investments in infrastructure, digitalisation, and sustainability initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency and cargo visibility.

WFS currently operates five cargo warehouse facilities in Madrid, covering 17,000 square metres and handling more than 500,000 tonnes of cargo annually for over 30 airline customers. The AENA has also granted WFS land for the development of a sixth cargo facility at Madrid airport, scheduled to open in 2028.

In Barcelona, WFS manages a 12,000 square metre cargo facility serving more than 20 airlines and handling over 140,000 tonnes of cargo each year, further strengthening its presence in Spain’s air logistics sector.
