Seattle, WA, 2015-9-30 — /Travel PR News/ — Woodland Park Zoo and Seattle Youth Climate Action Network will host first annual Youth Climate Action Summit on Oct.10

WHAT: Woodland Park Zoo and the Seattle Youth Climate Action Network (CAN) will host the first annual Youth Climate Action Summit on Saturday, October 10 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The first summit for the program, themed “Taking Climate Action,” will allow teens from the Seattle area to participate in interactive workshops focused on understanding climate science, taking climate action, and exploring climate careers as well as learn more about Seattle Youth CAN and how to join. Exciting art and action elements will also be featured throughout the day.

WHO: Over 100 teens from the Seattle area who are involved in Seattle Youth CAN or other partnering organizations including: Woodland Park Zoo, Pacific Science Center and Seattle Aquarium.

WHERE: Woodland Park Zoo’s Education Center, located inside the zoo near the South Entrance at N. 50th St. & Fremont Ave. N.

WHEN: Saturday, October 10 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

INFO: Seattle Youth Climate Action Network (CAN) was launched in January 2015 as a way to provide ongoing opportunities for Seattle area teens to deepen their understanding of climate change and take collective action. Led by Woodland Park Zoo, Seattle Youth CAN currently has over 70 teens participating in action events, trainings, monthly climate literacy events and campaign planning sessions. Seattle Youth CAN began with a group of teenagers from Woodland Park Zoo’s ZooCorps, Pacific Science Center’s Discovery Corps and Seattle Aquarium’s Youth Ocean Advocates, and plans to continue to build a network of youth from the Seattle area in the coming years. The summit is the first event open to other teens beyond the three founding institutions. Seattle Youth CAN’s pilot year will culminate in the fall at the Youth Climate Action Summit at Woodland Park Zoo on Saturday, October 10 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
