BUDAPEST, HUNGARY, 2016-Jun-21 — /Travel PR News/ — Wizz Air, the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe, and Romania’s largest airline reached a new record milestone yesterday– three million carried passengers to and from Timisoara Airport. Wizz Air started operating Timisoara flights in October 2008 that was followed by establishing a base in February 2009 with one based A320 aircraft.
In November 2014 Wizz Air added a second A320 aircraft to its Timisoara base and currently offers 15 routes to 7 countries. Last year WIZZ carried over 590 thousand passengers on its Timisoara routes which translates into more than 400 jobs in associated industries in the region*
Already the largest airline in Romania, Wizz Air will grow its fleet to 20 aircraft in the country by the end of 2016, and will have a total of nine airports out of which seven are operating bases served by the young WIZZ fleet. Wizz Air currently employs over 600 colleagues directly, while this year will support more than 3,300 jobs in associated industries throughout Romania*.
Wizz Air’s three millionth passenger in Timisoara, Mr. Claudiu Adrian Bodestean flew on Tuesday from Timisoara to London Luton for a short a city break in the UK capital. During check in the passenger was welcomed by a young football player in Wizz Air Uniform who has handed him…a pink card with the good news. Visibly pleased and moved, the lucky passenger said: “My wife and I together with our children are regular WIZZ passengers. I was not expecting to be so lucky and receive a pink football card telling me that I was Wizz Air’s three millionth passenger in Timisoara. I am looking forward to the next WIZZ trip!”
Tamara Vallois, Head of Communications of Wizz Air said: “Today we would like to thank our loyal as well as new Timisoara passengers for the three million opportunities to serve you on our flights famous for the lowest fares and outstanding on-board service. Three million passengers represent the fact that in the past 7.5 years Wizz Air has carried ten times the population of Timisoara. As Romania’s leading airline we stay committed to continue offering the greatest connectivity between Romania and the rest of Europe, promoting economic development throughout the country. We are grateful to be the airline of choice for our Transylvanian consumers and look forward to many new remarkable milestones.”
