Winnipeg Airports Authority Inc. Second Quarter Results

2012-07-31 — /travelprnews.com/ — Revenue was $20.9 million for the second quarter, compared to $18.8 million for the same period in 2011. Earnings before interest, depreciation and taxes were $10.8 million consistent with 2011’s second quarter. Cash generated from operations, not including the change in working capital, remained positive at $7.9 million for the first six months of 2012 (2011 – $18.4 million).

“Diversifying revenue streams and growing the airport campus have been two of our main objectives, and we are pleased to see the positive results,” said Barry Rempel, President & CEO of Winnipeg Airports Authority Inc. (WAA). “This diversification not only translates into more jobs for those in our community but helps to offset increasing costs, maintaining low costs for carriers serving this market and making Richardson International the airport of choice in our region.”

During the second quarter of 2012, WAA announced developments on the airport campus would include a new 7-Eleven, Petro Canada and Harvey’s Restaurant. In addition, WAA and the Town of Churchill established Churchill Transportation Inc. to work with the federal government and its airport to identify and address marketing and development opportunities in Churchill, and to enhance connectivity with the North.

This quarter, our community’s new air terminal was named one of the World’s Most Iconic Airports by the Travel Channel and one of the Coolest New Airport Terminals by Travel & Leisure.

Winnipeg Airports Authority is a non-share capital corporation responsible for the management and operation of Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport and affiliate businesses. WAA receives no operating funding from any level of Government.

Winnipeg Airports Authority serves our region by providing value to our customers and community. A source of pride for our community, we strive to be a leader in its growth and development.
