Whistler Blackcomb recognizes partners across variety of channels, mediums and activations at its Fifth Annual Partner Marketing Awards

CORPORATE PARTNERS AWARDED FOR BEST ACTIVATIONS ON AND OFF THE MOUNTAINS

WHISTLER, BC, 2016-Dec-16 — /Travel PR News/ — Monster Energy, Clif Bar, GORE-TEX® Products, GMC, GoPro, DC Shoes and Oakley were awarded top marks at Whistler Blackcomb’s Fifth Annual Partner Marketing Awards held on December 7, 2016. Categories included: Most Innovative Activation, Best Employee Engagement, Best Bang for the Buck, Best Integration of Talent, Best Summer Activation, Best In-Market Promotion, Best Social Activation, Moving the Dial and the grand finale of Best in Class.

The Best in Class award recognizes the partner who has embraced the Whistler Blackcomb partnership across a variety of channels, mediums and activations. GMC was awarded the top prize this year with their amazing on mountain programming. Creative builds include the GMC Pump Track in the Whistler Mountain Bike Park, custom GMC Denali edition gondolas on the Excalibur Gondola line and a premium static display gondola located near the Roundhouse Lodge. GMC has also developed engaging and shareable content supporting new grassroots events and their existing properties. This year also included a re-brand and upgrade of the GMC Race Centre.

“We are extremely honoured to have been voted Best in Class at the partner awards this year,” says Jim Scott, Sponsorship Manager for GMC. “We’ve worked with Whistler Blackcomb for almost 30 years and every year we aim to do something new, to do something first! We feel that we accomplished a lot this past year and are excited for the future projects that lie ahead. Be on the lookout for a special addition to the Whistler Blackcomb fleet.”

Moving the Dial is a category to recognize those partners whose efforts drove sales directly to Whistler Blackcomb business units. Oakley captured the title for the second year in a row, this time with their Ambassador Program which was integrated in Whistler Blackcomb’s Snow School.

DC Shoes earned the Most Innovative Activation for the Hit and Run event held at Whistler Blackcomb on March 26 and 27. The inaugural event had a world tour, with stops in France and California before the series finale at Whistler Blackcomb. The Hit and Run event combined all elements of snowboarding into one run, which included jumps, rails and corners all while racing against other competitors’ times.

Monster Energy repeated their title in the category for Best Integration of Talent with their Matoma show at the Glacier Creek Lodge. With a custom-made DJ booth already in place, Monster Energy brought in a world class DJ to play a free show at the alpine lodge on Blackcomb Mountain to much fanfare.

GORE-TEX® won the Employee Engagement category thanks to an incentive program with the Whistler Blackcomb Retail department, which rewarded staff for influencing guests to purchase GORE-TEX® products at Whistler Blackcomb retail outlets.

The Best Summer Activation was presented to GMC for the creation of the GMC Pump Track, a part of the larger Whistler Mountain Bike Park. The new pump track is located just north of the Whistler Village Gondola mid-station. It was amplified through unique branding, social content creation and numerous competitions held at the track. Whistler Blackcomb documented the creation of the GMC Pump Track, watch it here https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=381_m9brwtc.

The Best In-Market Promotion was captured by Monster Energy for their on-pack promotion across the United States, including on-premise assets to give away 5 trips to Whistler Blackcomb.

Clif Bar was awarded the Best Bang for Your Buck award for their Clif Top Yoga programming. In an effort to promote Whistler Blackcomb’s Raven’s Nest restaurant opening in the summer for the first time, Clif Bar hosted free weekly yoga sessions on the restaurant’s deck. The sessions included branded yoga mats, product seeding and an instructor from a local Whistler yoga studio.

GoPro took home the Best Social Activation with their Whistler Blackcomb ambassador program over the 2015.2016 ski season. The brand and property teamed up to find the most talented local GoPro users in order to curate content for both brands social media channels, which received strong pickup by followers.

“The purpose of the Partner Marketing Awards is to recognize the efforts of our partners and encourage them to leverage their relationship with Whistler Blackcomb with world class activations,” says Morag Kerr, Manager of Strategic Alliances and Partner Marketing at Whistler Blackcomb. “We were thrilled with the collection of events and activations all of our partners have executed at Whistler Blackcomb over the past year.”
