Edinburgh, Scotland, 2016-Nov-10 — /Travel PR News/ — A NEW film by VisitScotland has brought to life the breathtaking scenery and diverse array of activities on offer for visitors to Dumfries & Galloway.
The region has long been celebrated for its rugged landscapes, unspoiled coastlines and literary links but now a new film produced by VisitScotland brings to life the people and the places at the heart of the region and lifts the lid on what makes it a unique and memorable destination.
Produced in partnership with Dumfries & Galloway Council, the film will be used by VisitScotland to market Dumfries & Galloway across its global digital channels.
From the unspoiled beaches at Sandyhills Bay to the ruins of Caerlaverock Castle and the famous dark skies of Galloway Forest Park, the film shines the spotlight on the greatest assets and icons of Dumfries & Galloway, as well as some of the hidden gems.
The region is a destination of choice for adventurers seeking an adrenaline rush with the amazing facilities at Laggan Outdoors and Galloway Activity Centre on the banks of Loch Ken, as well as the 7stanes Dalbeattie Mountain Biking Centre. Or for those wishing to get up close and personal with the region’s animals, Nocturnal Wildlife Tours operates tailored tours throughout the region from its Castle Douglas base.
Dumfries & Galloway’s outstanding natural larder also plays a major role in attracting visitors to the area to sample regional delights, from ice cream to fudge, meat, bread and cheese on offer at local events such as the popular Wigtown Farmers’ Market which appears in the film.
Doug Wilson, VisitScotland Regional Director, said: “This latest film builds of the success of VisitScotland’s Spirit of Scotland global campaign and #ScotSpirit social movement which aims to raise the profile and reputation of the region as an outstanding place to visit, and to invest, live and work in.
“What better way to show off the best of what Dumfries & Galloway has to offer than in a film like this. The film is an additional asset for VisitScotland and our partners to promote the region and its many assets to visitors at home and further afield. It brings to life what visitors can experience on a trip to the region and we hope it will encourage people to share their own experience on our online iKnow community and entice others to discover the magic of the region for themselves.”
Chair of Dumfries & Galloway Council’s Economy, Environment and Infrastructure Committee,Councillor Colin Smyth said: “We already know what a great place we live in, but this film shows our region off to its true potential.
“Dumfries and Galloway was announced as the winner of ‘Holiday Destination of the Year’ for 2015/16 by Countryfile Magazine in February of this year, confirming what thousands of tourists had already discovered.
“With all the attractions above and more hidden gems for people still to find, I can’t recommend our region enough for visitors to come and explore.”
