The summer flight schedule at Vienna Airport takes effect on Sunday, March 31, 2019. New long-haul routes will be served by Austrian Airlines to Montreal, Air Canada to Toronto and China Southern Airlines via Urumqi to Guangzhou and with Royal Air Maroc a new Carrier is starting flight service to Casablanca. Laudamotion, LEVEL and Wizz Air will connect numerous European destinations even better from Vienna. The summer flight schedule is valid March 31 to October 27, 2019.
“2018 was a record year, and the growth trend is continuing in 2019. The summer flight schedule is promising. Austrian Airlines, Air Canada and China Southern Airlines are launching new long-haul flight connections and Royal Air Maroc will also start as a new Carrier in Vienna. The low cost segment with Laudamotion, Wizz Air, LEVEL, easyJet among aothers is also growing strongly. The improvement of punctuality for the benefit of passengers in Vienna is particularly important to us“, says Julian Jäger, Joint CEO and COO of Vienna Airport.
Even more long-haul flight connections and airlines from Vienna
For the first time, All Nippon Airways has been connecting Vienna with Tokyo-Haneda Airport since February 18, 2019. Further new long-haul flight connections will be initiated as of summer schedule 2019. Accordingly, Air Canada will offer daily flights linking Vienna with Toronto in Canada as of April 30, 2019, and China Southern Airlines will fly every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday to Guangzhou in China via Urumqi starting on June 18, 2019. Royal Air Maroc will also launch new flight service connecting Vienna with Casablanca in Marocco, starting April 1, 2019 with flights every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Austrian Airlines flies to Montreal
Starting on April 29, 2019, the Austrian home carrier will connect Vienna with Montreal in Canada on a daily basis. Moreover, the airline will add one flight per week to Skyros (GR) to its route network as of June 2, 2019 and one weekly flight to Brindisi (IT) as of June 16, 2019. Additionally, Austrian Airlines is increasing frequencies as of May 1, 2019, to Paris-CDG (FR) to a total of 40 weekly flights, 31 flights per week to Copenhagen (DK) and 34 weekly flight connections to Amsterdam (NL).
Laudamotion offers new Greek destinations
Since February 1, 2019 Laudamotion has been offering four weekly flights to Stuttgart (D) and five weekly flights to Kiev (UA) and will serve both destinations on a daily basis as from summer schedule. The airline is also launching flights to several new destinations in Greece. It will fly twice weekly to Rhodes and Corfu as from March 31, 2019, two times per week to Mykonos as of April 3, 2019, three times per week to Heraklion in Crete, two times per week to Kos as of May 21, 2019 and one weekly flight to Zakynthos as of May 24, 2019.
LEVEL increases frequencies on European destinations
The Vienna based airline LEVEL is also adding several European destinations to its route network. As of March 31, 2019, it will fly six times per week to both Hamburg (DE) and Copenhagen (DK), twice per week to Porto (PT) starting on April 1, 2019, once a week to Genoa (IT) as of April 5, 2019 and will operate one weekly flight to Calvi (F) starting on May 19, 2019.
New destinations also offered by Volotea, Turkish Airlines and Vueling
The Spanish airline Volotea will be offering two weekly flight connections to the popular Bordeaux wine region in France as of April 5, 2019. On June 23, 2019, Turkish Airlines will add one weekly flight to Izmir (TR) to its route network, and Vueling will fly daily to Florence (IT) starting on September 15, 2019 (IT).
Numerous airlines with frequency increases in the summer months
The Polish airline LOT will raise the number of weekly flights to Warsaw (PL) to 21, Eurowings will operate a total of 26 weekly flights to Cologne as of June 2, 2019, and China Airlines will raise the number of flights to Taipei each week to six. Qatar will fly 16 times per week to Doha (QA) as of April 2019, and even raise the number to 17 as of July 1, 2019.
Wizz Air expanded its fleed and opened five new destinations from February
The Hungarian low cost airline Wizz Air stationed two additional aircraft in Vienna in February 2019, to a total of five aircraft permanently based at Vienna Airport. In February Wizz Air also added new flight connections to its route network, and now flies on a daily base to Madrid (ES) and Milan (IT), four times per week to Malmö (SE), three times to Reykjavik (IS) and twice weekly to Stockholm (SE).
