Vienna Airport announced August was its strongest month ever in its history

4.6% rise in local passenger volume – Passenger growth to Eastern and Western Europe, Middle East, Far East and North America.
 
VIENNA, 2015-9-15 — /Travel PR News/ — In August 2015 the number of passengers handed by Vienna Airport increased by 4.8% from the prior-year month to a total of 2,386,256. Local passenger volume was also up 4.6% in the same period. After setting a single-day passenger record on July 31, 2015, August 2015 turned out to be the month with the highest passenger volume in the history of Vienna Airport. In August 2015 Vienna Airport also reported a rise of 5.9% in the number of transfer passengers from the comparable level in August 2014. The number of flight movements fell by 0.6%, whereas the maximum take-off weight showed a positive development, increasing by 4.2%. In August 2015 total air cargo rose 1.9% from the previous year. On balance, total passenger volume in the period January to August 2015 climbed 1.1% year-on-year.
 
The number of passengers flying to Western Europe and Eastern Europe rose by 4.9% and 2.3% respectively in August 2015. The Middle East region showed a rise of 33.3% in August 2015, compared to a 12.5% increase in passengers travelling to the Far East. The number of passengers flying to North American destinations rose by 7.0% in August 2015, whereas passenger volume to Africa was down 14.9% from August 2014 as a consequence of the conflict events in Tunesia.  
 
The strategic investments of Flughafen Wien AG developed well. The number of passengers handled by Kosice Airport rose 10.0% in the period January to August 2015 to a total of 284,376 passengers. In the same period Malta Airport registered an increase of 6.8% to 3,120,840 passengers.
