MONTREAL – 2013-01-07 — /travelprnews.com/ — VIA Rail wishes to advise customers that following the clearance of the railway tracks in the Marysville area, all services will gradually return to normal on the Montreal-Ottawa-Toronto routes in both directions.
Yesterday, a First Nations’ railroad blockade in the Marysville area, near Kingston, caused delays and inconvenienced more than 1,000 VIA Rail passengers. Four VIA Rail trains had to stop travelling as a result of the protest. Delays ranging between one to two hours were experienced by VIA Rail customers travelling once the blockade was put in place.
VIA does not anticipate any significant delays to its operations today as a result of yesterday’s event.
VIA Rail wishes to apologize for any inconvenience this situation has caused to its passengers. Customers wishing further information may call 1 888-VIA RAIL (842-7245).
