(NEWS) SAN FRANCISCO / CHICAGO, 2025-Nov-5 — /Travel PR News/ — United Airlines is taking another step toward redefining the connected travel experience through a new partnership with Lyft, enabling MileagePlus® members across the U.S. to earn miles on everyday rides. The collaboration allows United’s loyal flyers to collect airline miles each time they book an eligible Lyft trip, according to a press announcement, bringing air and ground travel closer together and rewarding travelers even before they reach the airport.
Under the new program, United MileagePlus members can link their accounts within the Lyft app to begin earning rewards across several ride categories. Travelers will receive four miles for every dollar spent on pre-scheduled airport rides, three miles for Extra Comfort, Lyft Black, and Black SUV rides or unscheduled airport trips, two miles on business profile rides, and one mile for Standard, Priority Pickup, and XL rides. New Lyft users are also eligible for a 1,000-mile bonus when they sign up, connect their MileagePlus account, and complete two rides within 30 days.
United MileagePlus CEO Richard Nunn said the collaboration represents a key milestone in building a “truly seamless travel experience.” He emphasized that integrating Lyft into United’s ecosystem will enable members to earn and eventually redeem miles for rides, while also providing automatic flight alerts and ride reminders for United passengers. “We’re connecting every part of the journey — from home to destination — and giving travelers more flexibility and value,” Nunn said.
Lyft’s Chief Marketing Officer, Brian Irving, echoed this sentiment, noting that many of Lyft’s customers already use the platform for airport commutes. “This partnership brings our brand purpose of ‘serve and connect’ to life by adding value to rides our customers already take,” he said.
The next phase of the collaboration, expected in early 2026, will allow MileagePlus members to redeem miles directly for Lyft rides within the app. United’s travelers will also benefit from MileagePlus features such as miles that never expire, no blackout dates, and flexible redemption options — making the program one of the most traveler-friendly loyalty ecosystems in the industry.
By linking air travel with ridesharing, United continues to expand its role beyond the skies, positioning itself as a comprehensive travel companion that extends the passenger experience from doorstep to destination. The partnership reflects a growing industry movement toward integrated mobility, where convenience, personalization, and rewards merge into one continuous journey.
