LONDON, UK, 2021-Sep-22 — /Travel PR News/ — Today (21 September, 2021) we are launching registration for our active carbon monoxide (CO) detector general aviation (GA) trial. Registration is open to any member of the UK GA community who flies with an active CO detector and is willing to commit to completing a short monthly survey, every month, over the next 12 months.
The trial, ending August 2022, will help us to understand how active CO detectors perform over the course of a full flying season in a variety of aircraft as well as the pilot experience of using these devices over an extended period. It will also help determine to what extent carbon monoxide affects UK GA. By volunteering, you would be directly contributing to aviation safety.
Our recent survey on Flying with Active Carbon Monoxide (CO) detectors, launched in July, showed that over 90% of respondents are aware of the benefits associated with carrying an active carbon monoxide detector. Furthermore, two-thirds of those who responded already fly with an active carbon monoxide detector. Full details of the survey findings are available here.
The findings of this survey have helped us to understand how these devices are being used amongst members of the UK General Aviation (GA) community and we thank those who completed this survey.
For further information on risk of carbon monoxide, please see Carbon monoxide in General Aviation | UK Civil Aviation Authority (caa.co.uk) or contact: code@caa.co.uk
