TUI apprenticeship levy funding strengthens healthcare training, supports charities, and opens new career opportunities across the UK

(NEWS) LONDON, 2025-Aug-22 — /Travel PR News/ — TUI UK&I has pledged £1 million of its unused Apprenticeship Levy to address skills shortages across the UK by funding apprenticeships in critical sectors. The initiative has already supported NHS England, charities, and businesses, creating new training opportunities in healthcare, childcare, engineering, wildlife management, and dentistry.

Since September 2024, the travel company’s contribution has funded 13 apprenticeships in the South East, providing vital training for dental nurses, oral health practitioners, pharmacy technicians, and children’s services staff. The South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust also received funding to train five new paramedics, strengthening the emergency care workforce.

Outside healthcare, the levy transfer has helped care charity The Turner Home deliver advanced care qualifications while enabling resources to be redirected to frontline resident support. In the commercial sector, Fluid Science used the funding to expand its marketing team and provide new career opportunities. According to TUI’s Emerging Talent & Apprenticeship Manager Marsha Myles, the initiative is designed to make every pound of the levy “work harder” by building skills, advancing social mobility, and creating an inclusive future. NHS and ambulance service leaders welcomed the partnership, praising TUI’s role in enabling workforce development at a time of increasing demand.

Aer Lingus, Heathrow Airport, and easyJet are also expanding apprenticeship opportunities to strengthen skills in aviation and engineering. Aer Lingus has opened applications for its 2025 Aircraft Engineer Apprenticeship, a four-year paid programme leading to permanent roles in its Maintenance & Engineering division. Heathrow has pledged to train 500 local apprentices by 2030, building on its shared apprenticeship scheme in construction, engineering, and data analytics for nearby residents. Meanwhile, easyJet will open a new maintenance hangar at London Luton Airport in 2026, creating over 30 jobs and establishing an apprenticeship training campus, with recruitment set to begin in October 2025.
