TSA Pre-Check Program Expanded at O’Hare to Delta, US Airways passengers

CHICAGO, 2012-08-02 — /travelprnews.com/ — The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today announced it has expanded its Pre-Check program at O’Hare International Airport to US Airways and Delta Air Lines passengers in O’Hare’s Terminal 2.
US Airways and Delta Air Lines passengers can now take advantage of TSA’s Pre-Check pre-screening program at Chicago O’Hare International Airport.

TSA’s Pre-Check is a pre-screening process for select frequent flyers who, if accepted into the Pre-Check program, are able to move through a designated security checkpoint more quickly without having to remove their shoes and light outerwear, or remove laptops from computer bags, for example. The Pre-Check lane is located in Terminal 2 at Security Checkpoint 5.

“On behalf of Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, I thank the TSAfor continuing to expand this forward-thinking program to Delta and US Airways passengers at O’Hare, where it will be very popular with frequent travelers,” said Chicago Department of Aviation Commissioner Rosemarie S. Andolino. “This program helps meet three of our most important priorities for air travelers — safety, security, and an enhanced customer experience at O’Hare, one of the busiest airports in the world. The TSA Pre-Check program makes travel more convenient and efficient for pre-screened passengers while ensuring that safety and security for all passengers is preserved.”

The Pre-Check program is also automatically available to members of U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Global Entry program. O’Hare has 10 Global Entry kiosks in International Terminal 5 to expedite processing for members returning to the U.S.

“The continued expansion of TSA Pre-Check at O’Hare benefits both passengers and TSA,” said TSA’s O’Hare Federal Security Director Kathleen Petrowsky. “The vast majority of air travelers present little risk to aviation security. By expediting screening for those we know more about, we can more effectively focus our resources on those we know less about.”

The Pre-Check program launched for American Airlines passengers in Terminal 3, Security Checkpoint 8 in March 2012 and to United Airlines passengers in Terminal 1, Security Checkpoint 2, in June 2012.
