Lt. Gov. Sheehy, two state senators to attend

LINCOLN, NEB.- 2012-10-16 — /travelprnews.com/ — Winners of the Nebraska Tourism Industry Awards will be announced during the Nebraska Travel Conference Oct. 24-25 at the Gering Civic Center in Gering.

The awards recognize the year’s outstanding tourism campaign, outstanding tourism association, best events in small and large communities, outstanding publication, outstanding website, outstanding attraction and friend of tourism. The 2012 Henry Fond Award winner will also be revealed during the banquet and awards ceremony at 7 p.m. Oct. 25. Named after the famous Nebraskan who never forgot his roots, this award recognizes an individual who has devoted many years to supporting and promoting tourism in every corner of the state.

Sen. LeRoy Louden and Sen. Ken Schilz, both proponents of the growth and expansion of Nebraska’s tourism industry, will speak at the banquet. In addition, Lt. Gov. Rick Sheehy will talk about the importance of tourism to Nebraska’s overall economy.

The annual conference educates members of the tourism industry on how to grow their businesses and how to put Nebraska at the forefront of travelers’ minds.  Conference delegates will learn about customer service and communication, marketing to different demographics, funding opportunities for tourism projects, experiential tourism and new ways to use social media outlets.
