2012-12-05 — /travelprnews.com/ — Tourism Australia to relocate to a new Sydney office
Tourism Australia has confirmed that it will be relocating its Sydney headquarters on 14 December 2012.
The Federal tourism agency has agreed a ten year lease which will see it move to new offices, on floor 28 and part of floor 29 at 420 George Street, also in the CBD of Sydney.
The move follows the expiry of the lease on its current offices – on levels 17 and 18 of Tower 2 at Darling Park, 201 Sussex – where Tourism Australia has been a tenant since November 2004.
Tourism Australia Managing Director Andrew McEvoy said relocating its headquarters to 420 George would drive operational efficiencies, enhance organisational functionality whilst retaining the benefits associated with a central Sydney CBD location.
“420 George Street represents a central location in a building that offers sustainable, modern office space of the future,” Mr McEvoy said.
He said the decision followed extensive market testing of over two dozen alternative locations in the Sydney CBD.
“Of the shortlisted properties, 420 George Street offered the best value for money in terms of the quality of the building, location and outlook and, importantly, net cost per annum. The decision is good for Tourism Australia, our staff and our clients.
“These competitive arrangements together with the buildings strong sustainability credentials were prime factors underpinning the move,” Mr McEvoy said.
Tourism Australia will be sharing part of the new office space with Sydney-based staff members from three of its key industry partners: Wine Australia, Tourism Victoria and Tourism NT.
