Tourism Australia confirms new Head of Corporate Affairs and Strategy

 

  • Tourism Australia has confirmed the appointment of Karen Halbert as its new General Manager Corporate Affairs and Strategy.
  • She replaces Simon Westaway, who left Tourism Australia before Christmas to take up a new position at Orica.

2013-01-16 — /travelprnews.com/ — Tourism Australia has confirmed the appointment of Karen Halbert as its new General Manager Corporate Affairs and Strategy.

She replaces Simon Westaway, who left Tourism Australia before Christmas to take up a new position at Orica.

Karen has extensive experience in corporate affairs with a strong background in government and media relations, most recently working as Principal Media Relations Advisor for Rio Tinto. Prior to that, she held senior positions at the Macquarie Group and also AstraZeneca.

Karen’s responsibilies will cover media and government relations, industry and employee communications and corporate strategy.

She will be based in Tourism Australia’s Sydney head quarters and takes up the position on 29 January 2013.
