Toronto, 2013-03-26 — /travelprnews.com/ — The Air Cargo Excellence Award has recognized Toronto Pearson as a leader in service standards and operational excellence as rated by airline staff and partners worldwide.
The Air Cargo Excellence Awards were announced on March 14, 2013 in Doha, Qatar on the final evening of the IATA World Cargo Symposium.
Toronto Pearson has continued to focus on increasing efficiency, value and costs for its customers. We were able to excel in the 4 key areas: Performance, Value, Facilities and Operations were used to identify the winner of the Air Cargo Excellence Award.
Toronto Pearson’s focus on value is demonstrated in our ongoing cost reductions. Over the past 6 years, Toronto Pearson has continued to reduce costs in landing fees resulting in a 51% reduction since 2007.
The Toronto Pearson facility includes large intermodal facilities on all cargo aprons, 2.5 million sq. ft. dedicated ramp for freighter operations, 1.2 million sq. feet of on airport warehouses with airside access and 5 runways.
“We are honoured to receive this award and more importantly recognition from our airline partners that we are providing them with world class service and competitive rates” said Howard Eng, President and CEO of the GTAA. “There is a high demand for cargo and we’re pleased to know we are able to effectively respond to the needs of our partners.”
Toronto Pearson is the only Canadian airport with scheduled all‐cargo services to Latin America, Europe, Asia and the United States. World‐leading freight forwarders have their Canadian headquarters in Toronto and the bulk of their consolidations in Canada take place near the airport.
The GTAA is the operator of Toronto Pearson International Airport, the busiest airport in Canada and one of the largest airports in North America in terms of passenger and air cargo traffic. In 2011, Toronto Pearson handled 33.4 million passengers. The focus of the GTAA continues to be on competitiveness, growing the airport’s status as an international gateway, meeting the needs of our travellers and ensuring the long-term success of the organization, our airline customers and the regional economy.
