The world’s largest hotel company Wyndham Hotel Group opened its first hotel in Ecuador

GUAYAQUIL, Ecuador, 2013-07-01 — /travelprnews.com/ — Wyndham Hotel Group, the world’s largest hotel company with approximately 7,380 hotels and part of Wyndham Worldwide Corporation (NYSE: WYN), today celebrated its continued expansion in Latin America with the addition of the 179-room Wyndham Guayaquil in Ecuador, marking the introduction of the upscale Wyndham Hotels and Resorts® brand in the South American country.

The newly constructed, full-service property in Guayaquil is the fifth hotel to open under an agreement between Wyndham Hotel Group and the hotel’s ownership group, Nobis, to develop and franchise eight additional hotels in the country under Wyndham Hotel Group flags over 10 years. Located downtown on the waterfront, the new Wyndham® hotel joins newly renovated sister property Howard Johnson Hotel Guayaquil, one of four Howard Johnson® hotels owned by Nobis and currently operating in Ecuador.

The opening of Wyndham Guayaquil bolsters Wyndham Hotel Group’s plans to expand its offerings to travelers in Latin America and bring the Wyndham brand to key markets throughout Central and South America. In December 2012, the company added its first two Wyndham hotels in Costa Rica and recently announced plans to welcome the first Wyndham properties in Colombia and Nicaragua to the brand portfolio in 2014.

“The launch of our flagship brand in an emerging market like Ecuador – and in one of the country’s busiest business and travel centers – is very exciting for our company,” said Daniel del Olmo, senior vice president and managing director of Latin America for Wyndham Hotel Group. “Wyndham Guayaquil will give travelers the chance to experience our customer-focused ‘Count On Me!’ service culture and will also offer the reliable services and amenities they need during their stay. We’re honored to work with a respected partner like Nobis to help us provide travelers in the region with great experiences and quality lodging options.”

As of March 31, 2013, Wyndham Hotel Group has over 13,600 rooms across 107 hotels open and operating in Mexico, Central America, South America and the Caribbean under the Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, Howard Johnson, Days Inn®, Ramada®, Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham, Wingate by Wyndham® and TRYP by Wyndham® brands.

Wyndham Guayaquil is located steps from the historic Santa Ana Hill and just minutes from the sights and attractions at Malecon 2000, Simon Bolivar Convention Center, World Trade Center Guayaquil and Aeropueto Internacional Jose Joaquin de Olmedo.

Guests staying at the hotel who are members of Wyndham Rewards®, the free-to-join guest loyalty program of Wyndham Hotels and Resorts and parent company Wyndham Hotel Group, can earn valuable points during their stay. Points may be redeemed for a wide variety of reward options including free hotel stays, air travel, gift cards for leading retailers and restaurants and more.
