SANTA CRUZ, CA, 2014-10-16 — /Travel PR News/ — The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk’s fifth annual Chili Cook-Off gets underway on Saturday, October 25. With 51 entries this year, chefs will be stirring it up along the Boardwalk, hoping to win prizes and bragging rights for their chili. While most competitors cook up traditional chili, vegetarian chili is gaining favor with 10 chefs serving meatless chili this year.
Local restaurants competing include Aquarius, East Side Eatery, Mackenzie Bar & Grill, Parish Publik House, Santa Cruz Ale Works, and Seabright Brewery.
Admission is free, tasting kits are $9 for 5 samples. Preparation starts at 9am, cooking starts at 10am, and public tasting gets underway at 1pm. Both amateur and professionals compete in the rain or shine, outdoor cook-off.
A portion of the proceeds from this year’s Cook-Off benefits Haven of Hope. Boardwalk rides will be open during the event. For more information visit http://beachboardwalk.com/chili/
