The San Francisco International Airport to provide alternate transportation options for passengers in the event of a possible Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) strike

Airport would resume free bussing between Millbrae Caltrain, South San Francisco Ferryboat Terminal 

SAN FRANCISCO, 2013-08-05— /travelprnews.com/ — The San Francisco International Airport (SFO) outlined alternate transportation options for passengers in the event of a possible Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) strike, which could cause service disruptions beginning Monday, August 5, 2013.

Other transit & shared rides

SFO recommends that travelers take other forms of public transit, such as the Caltrain commuter rail or SamTrans bus, to the airport. Trip-planning options, and special information on transit options during any potential BART strike, can be found at www.511.org. Shared-ride vans services are also available.

Free SFO buses

In the event of a BART strike, SFO will operate free buses between the airport BART station and the Millbrae Caltrain center. Buses will drop off and pick up passengers at the departure level of the International Terminal, outside the airport BART station. Free buses will also operate at regular intervals between the airport and the South San Francisco (Oyster Point) ferryboat terminal. Arriving at SFO

Passengers traveling are encouraged to allow extra time to arrive at the airport, arriving at least 90 minutes prior to departure for domestic flights and two hours prior to international flights.

Kiss & Fly; Cell Phone Lot

SFO encourages people to drop off friends and family at the Kiss-and-Fly curb at the rental car facility, where they can catch the AirTrain and be at the airport in minutes. SFO also offers a free cell-phone parking lot, located adjacent to the Long Term Parking surface lot five minutes north of the terminals.
