Oulu Airport celebrated its millionth passenger on Tuesday, 27 November
2012-11-29 — /travelprnews.com/ — Passengers at Oulu Airport top the one million mark for the first time. Tiina Nurmelaarrived at Oulu Airport on a Norwegian flight from Helsinki and was received by the airport staff, who gave her flowers.
Oulu Airport is the second largest airport in Finavia’s network of airports. About 20% of the airport’s passengers head to international destinations. In 2011, the passenger volume of Oulu Airport was almost one million.
“Air traffic has developed considerably in Oulu in recent years, and the millionth passenger indicates this trend in practice. It is great that Finavia continues to develop the second largest airport in Finland and improves customer service next year through significant investment and refurbishment,” says Liisa Sallinen, who started as Oulu Airport Manager in November.
In 2013, Finavia will modernise Oulu Airport’s services and facilities for departing passengers. The estimated cost of the renovation is approximately EUR 2.6 million, and it will be one of the most significant investments in Finavia’s network of airports in 2013. The project is due to be completed by 2014.
