The Midway Fly Away 5K Run/Walk returns on Sunday, September 17, 2017; Registration now open
CHICAGO, 2017-Jun-27 — /Travel PR News/ — One of the most exciting and unique 5k races in the city – The Midway Fly Away 5K Run/Walk – will return to the airfield of Midway International Airport on Sunday, September 17, 2017. Registration is now open by visiting www.sochicago.org.
Now in its fifth year, the Midway Fly Away 5K Run/Walk offers runners and walkers of all fitness levels the opportunity to walk directly on the airfield of Midway International Airport. The Midway 5K will feature a race just for kids 10 and under — the Midway Miler! Registration includes souvenir race t-shirt, post race refreshments and free parking.
The event benefits the year round programs enjoyed by 6,800 Special Olympics Chicago athletes. At the registration website, participants can create a personal fundraising page where supporters can make tax deductible donations.
Just like last year, the runner who crosses the finish line “midway” through the race will be awarded (2) round-trip Southwest Airlines tickets to fly anywhere in the continental United States. Other great raffle prizes will also be awarded and prizes will be presented to the first place male and female winners and to the top three male and female finishers in each age group category.
The Midway Fly Away 5K is presented by the Chicago Department of Aviation, Southwest Airlines, and Special Children’s Charities/Special Olympics Chicago.
