The Maldives Game Fishing Association announces that entries are now open for the 2013 Maldives Game Fishing Challenge

2013-06-11 — /travelprnews.com/ — The Maldives Game Fishing Association (MGFA) is pleased to announce that entries are now open for the 2013 Maldives Game Fishing Challenge. This year’s challenge will be held from 15 to 18 November and we’re delighted that Bandos Island Resort & Spa will once again be host island. The 4 day event will cover a fishing area of 8,000 square nautical miles, within prime fishing grounds for species such as Marlin, Sailfish, Yellowfin, Big Eye & Dogtooth Tunas and Wahoo.

This relatively new yet burgeoning event has been created with two main purposes – to generate awareness of the Maldives as a fishing destination to the international game fishing community; while encouraging and promoting responsible and ethical recreational fishing. The MGFA is passionate about encouraging the Maldives to ‘fish for the future’ and believes that through the understanding and application of sustainable fishing practices, that this important message will be exercised by all charter fishing operations.

Crews and teams participating in the 2012 event experienced favourable fishing conditions. Operating the event with strict IGFA game fishing rules, the MGFA were very pleased with results which saw an increased number of strikes, hook ups and tags, with fewer catches. The 2013 event has full endorsement from the International Game Fishing Association (IGFA) and fishing will again be conducted in accordance with IGFA rules.

Angler entry price remains at US$200 which includes three full days of fishing, a 2013 MGFC tee-shirt and cap; MGFA 12 months membership, plus tickets to the welcome drinks and closing presentation dinner.
